The department of medical oncology is a field that studies cancer and treats cancer too. The three different areas of specialization are:-
Radiation Oncology in which the cancer treatments are done by radiation therapy.
A medical oncologist will use chemotherapy to treat cancer. They can also use targeted therapy or immunotherapy to give treatment to the cancer patient.
In Surgical oncology, the affected part will be removed with the help of surgery and would be sent for biopsy for further investigation. The biopsy will help in diagnosing the stage and the type of cancer which will help in further treatment.
